In 2013, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Bangladesh was established as the first and only specialized government university in Bangladesh for higher education related to marine and maritime. (But now there are a few more specialized universities as Bangabandhu Maritime University)

It is the 37th government university in Bangladesh. Bangabandhu Maritime University is the first in Bangladesh, the second in South Asia, and the 12th maritime university in the world. The BSc in Oceanography program was started on January 3, 2017, at the temporary campus of the university in Mirpur Pallavi as part of the introduction of undergraduate (honors) classes for the first time in the university. Then in 2018, the first batch class of BSc in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering started. Classes of two more programs started in 2019. LLB in Maritime Law and BBA in Port Management and Logistics. Admission and classes for the first batch of BSc in Maritime Fisheries started in 2020.

Subject and number of seats:

At present academic activities of 5 departments are running under 4 faculties. However, in future 38 departments will be started under 7 faculties.

There are 40 seats in each department.

Campus:

Academic activities are currently being conducted on two temporary campuses at Mirpur 12 (Pallabi). Work on a permanent campus has already started in Hamidchar, Bakalia, and Chittagong. Maritime Campus will be one of the most planned campuses among the universities of Bangladesh. The permanent campus of the university will be built on 106.6 acres of land on the banks of the Karnafuli River.

There are 3 residential halls in Mirpur DOHS near the university for the convenience of students.

The residential halls have all kinds of facilities. The monthly cost is approximately 5 thousand. Even if it costs a little more, it will be fine considering the environment and benefits of staying and eating.

There are adequate varsity buses available on different routes in Dhaka city.

Costs:

The estimated cost in four years will be around one and a half lakh.
The approximate semester fee for the science department is 17/18 thousand. And 14/15 thousand of BBA and LLB.

Admission Preparation:

Maritime University does not allow exam questions to be taken out. There is no question bank in the market. There may be some but they are not correct. However, in the varsity admission Help Group you will find the maximum questions of last year.

Compared to each seat, a relatively large number of candidates participate in Bangabandhu Maritime University Admission. Again there is no admission help book for proper preparation.
